Atlantic City Casinos
From a troubled resort to a prosperous gambling mecca
Home of the Miss America Pageant, Atlantic City served as the inspiration for the original version of the Monopoly board game. The 60s saw embarrassing vacancy rates in the city’s hotels, with advancements in technology bringing things like cheaper air fare and easy travel thanks to the development of the automobile. Fewer people visited Atlantic City, which had, in the past, relied on travellers taking a break from long-haul trips and train rides.
Gambling was legalised in 1976 in an effort to improve the economic situation, and soon afterward, the Resorts International was established as the first legal casino in the United States. Many tycoons have taken interest in Atlantic City. Among those of note is business mogul Donald Trump, who owns a slew of casinos in Atlantic City. Trump has also been credited with bringing high-profile boxing matches to the city in an effort to drive more traffic to his casinos.
Great Casino Entertainment
Atlantic City is a far cry from Las Vegas, and it has very few megaresorts and casinos in its vicinity. The quality of entertainment, however, can be likened to that of Sin City, with nearly a dozen major casinos in the area, including the famed Borgata, Atlantic City is a great choice for those who want to experience the life of a punter without risking losing all his money in Vegas.
In the latter parts of 2013, New Jersey legalised online gambling, and the casinos at Atlantic City were quick to jump in on the trend. Many of the land-based casinos in Atlantic City have entered into partnerships with online sports brokers to offer online gaming to potential clients as well.
Atlantic City – worth a visit!
Atlantic City’s growth as a resort town has prompted the development of various tourist attractions in the area as well. A water circus, horse diving, and Diving Bell can be found in Atlantic City’s amazing casinos, so even guests who aren’t up for any casino games can also be ensured of a good time. Live performances are also commonplace in Atlantic City, and while the city pales in comparison to the collection on the Las Vegas Strip, the casinos here are actually sister casinos of some of the biggest brands in the industry.
If you fancy some casual casino gaming without the high stakes ambience of Las Vegas, Atlantic City should definitely be next on your list. Great entertainment, dependable dealers, and high payout slots and gaming tables make Atlantic City a premier destination for entertainment in the United States.
