There are dozens of casinos found in the Philippines, but it wasn’t until the turn of the century that integrated casinos and resort-casinos became popular in Manila. The country has largely been disregarded in terms of the gambling industry, but huge corporations have already recognised the potential of Manila and built large, sprawling casinos in the southern part of the country’s capital.
The country’s current high-stakes casinos, Resorts World Manila and Solaire Manila, have both been hugely successful, drawing in hundreds of thousands of people every month. These resorts gave Filipinos the chance to experience a largely westernised casino experience, and now their developers are also looking into expanding their profits.
Construction on a new casino called Resorts World Bayshore has already started, with the project expected to be finished by 2016. The Bayshore is expected to be larger and more expansive than the already-impressive Resorts World Manila. Following the pattern of integrated casinos from the west, the Bayshore will have two hotels, a mall, a 3,000-seat opera, and of course, restaurants, bars, and a 24-7 gambling hub. It’s even set to have its own theme park as well.
Looking at the casinos in Manila, the buildings of these casinos can be seen looming over the distance in Southern Manila, and you would hardly think that the industry has only been around for about a decade. If not for the small number of choices for gamblers, Manila could very well be one of the most entertaining gambling centres in the world.
