Five gaming areas with over 1,500 slots and video machines, and 650 table games and VIP Horizon – a luxurious privileged gaming club. After almost a decade of construction, the Galaxy Casino in Macau finally opened in 2011. Now, only years after its gates opened, the Galaxy Casino has become a premier destination in Macau. Was it worth the wait?
Galaxy Casino Macau Review
The Cotai Strip has become a rather lucrative area for investors in Macau, with investors from all over the world coming together and building one of the greatest entertainment hubs in the world. The Galaxy Entertainment Group has infiltrated the Cotai Strip with four clubs, and the first fully integrated resort in Macau, the Galaxy Macau.
Although the opening of Galaxy Macau was rescheduled several times, its launch in May of 2011 proved to be a huge success. The casino, created to become a world class casino that was Asian to the core, redefined Asia’s entertainment experience and showcased the culture of the East to a worldwide audience.
The 550,000 m2 resort is equipped with facilities that rival those found in other entertainment hotspots like Las Vegas and Atlantic City. A 52,000 m2 Grand Resort Deck, the world’s largest sky wave pool, a white sandy beach, and dozens of private villas and cabanas adorn the Galaxy Macau.
Gaming options
Galaxy Macau’s gaming floor is so expansive; it’s been divided into five areas, accommodating thousands of gamblers at a time. With over 600 gaming tables and more than a thousand video slot and gaming machines, the casino has often been likened to “one long corridor of gaming machines that never seems to end”.
But there is one area of the gaming floor that attracts high-rollers: the High Limit Pagoda. Designed in an elegant style that truly looks like a pagoda from Japanese culture, this elevated platform is designed to allow the most affluent gamblers to experience high stakes gambling.
Dining options
With 50 outlets that serve Asian and international food outlets, there’s certainly something for everyone in the Galaxy Macau. While international food chains are present in the casino, fine dining is also possible. There are various in-house restaurants that specialise in international cuisine, but two are definitely recommended: the Oasis, which serves salad and appetizers as well as some casual dining options; and the Terrazza, which serves fine Mediterranean cuisine.
Entertainment and events
The hotel has various function halls that can be rented out for corporate and intimate events, while certain areas of the lounges can also be sectioned off if you just want to have some space exclusively for you and your guests. Of course, there are many promotions in the casino as well, offering higher jackpots and limits to their patrons. Live performers also grace the casino and the atrium of the Galaxy Macau.
Dress code
While the Galaxy Macau does not impose a strict dress code, some of their establishments do require formal or, at the very least, smart dress. No flip flops and shorts are allowed in these establishments, and as with other casinos in the area, they do not allow people wearing sportswear into the Galaxy Macau.
Membership
The Galaxy Privilege Club allows patrons of the casino to start accumulating points with each purchase they make in Galaxy Macau. Points can be redeemed for free meals, free plays at the casino, and even free vacation packages. Although membership to the casino is not necessary to play or visit their restaurants, signing up for membership can prove to be quite an advantage.
